Today, Gov. Greg Abbott will be participating in a live, virtual town hall meeting in response to the COVID-19 outbreak tonight at 7 p.m.

According to KXAN, the meeting will be hosted by Nexstar Broadcasting and will feature the governor’s response to the spread of the virus. Abbott will be joined by a number of state government officials from various departments, including the departments of health, infection diseases, education and emergency management, all of who will share their recent findings and updates on the virus and its impact on normal life.

As there are current strict limitations on gatherings of more than 10 individuals, the live broadcast will give viewers an opportunity to hear updates without risking becoming infected or unknowingly spreading the disease to others.

The talk will take place at the studios of KXAN-TV in Austin and will be hosted by anchor Robert Hadlock. The meeting is set to air exclusively on 14 Nexstar stations throughout the state of Texas.

In addition to providing the more recent and relevant information surrounding the virus, there will be a 15-minute question-and-answer portion between Abbott and the officials featured. Viewers are encouraged to participate in the Q-and-A portion of the meeting by submitting their questions.

Questions can be submitted using the hashtag #AskAbbott via social media and can be targeted at Abbott of the officials that join the governor. Viewers interested in submitting questions should note that they are more likely to have their questions answered if they submit video questions, rather than written or texted questions.

The program will run for one hour. Guests include Dr. John Hellerstedt, Texas Department of State Health Services commissioner; Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management; Stephanie Muth, deputy executive commissioner Medicaid; and Mike Morath, Texas Education Agency commissioner.
