The City of Dallas has teamed with the Office of Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs (WCIA) to present the immigrant communities in Dallas County with grants to assist families devastated by the impact of COVID-19.

The WCIA foundation has created the Emma Lazarus Resilience Fund, which fund will offer $500,000 in financial aid to the immigrant families who were not eligible for the standard federal COVID-19 relief programs.

For an organization to qualify for the grants, officials say that at least 75% of the nonprofit's workload must reside in Dallas County. The grant aims to help immigrant and refugee families that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis who did not receive other grants due to ineligibility.

Funds from the Emma Lazarus Resilience program will be distributed by the nonprofit organizations that can legally serve Dallas’ immigrant and refugee communities throughout the county.

WCIA is presently reviewing the recent applications from eligible nonprofits.
