On Aug. 16, a Frisco man, Alvin Green, 59, was arrested on charges of election fraud in Dallas County during the 2022 cycle. Green is accused of falsifying names and signatures on petitions for Democratic judicial candidates.

“We must protect the integrity of our elections,” Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton said in a written statement, according to The Dallas Morning News. “Election fraud is extremely rare; election technology and procedures are sophisticated and designed to prevent interference. However, when there is probable cause to believe that a crime has occurred, we will pursue prosecution.”

According to The Dallas Morning News, the charges against Green include falsifying names and signatures on petitions for five Democratic judicial candidates prior to the primary election. The Fort Bend County district attorney's office announced the charges after investigating allegations of fraudulent use of identifying information, tampering with a governmental record, and election fraud.

A Dallas County administrative judge had assigned the investigation to the county's jurisdiction after the Dallas County District Attorney recused his office in April. Green faces allegations of manipulating names, signatures, and notarizing false statements for five Democratic primary applicants in the 2022 Dallas County election, according to law enforcement officials. The incidents in question reportedly transpired in December 2021. According to court documents, Green is accused of manipulating signatures and identities and illicitly transferring identities of 30 individuals from one candidate's petition to others, affecting candidates including Robert Alvarez, Melodee Armstrong, Mary Brown, Angel Mata, and Gracie Olvera. The affected candidates were disqualified except one due to the alleged fraud.

CBS Texas reports that Green is now facing multiple legal charges, and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
